Lean Grass Fed Beef And Pork Is Great For Losing Weight

By Frances Robinson

There are many benefits to having beef, chicken, or ham steak on a daily basis. Besides being a tasty entree, there are many nutrients that are part of any balanced meal. Also, there are many ways to prepare these so a person has something different to eat every day of the week. By cooking with grass fed beef and pork, there are even more nutritional benefits to be enjoyed.

The difference here is that many food manufacturers specializing in this premium product do not subject their livestock to any form of abuse. In the past, force feeding, hormonal injections, and poor diet have diminished the nutritional value of meat products. However, the use of this modern production method makes a nice change from having farm raised fish every day.

Cooking lean meats so they retain their juicy texture is not a science. Along with using low heat, the right seasonings can keep calories in check. Most people who are busy add a marinade or rub to meat and let sit overnight. By the next day, these not only have a lot of flavor but one can have a full meal in less than half an hour.

This may not sound great to the person that has spent a long day at work and does not care to spend the rest of their day cooking. Some people take a shortcut by seasoning the meat the night before so it will have a nice flavor the next day. Placing in a broiler oven or electric countertop grill can reduce the cooking time compared to baking in a traditional oven.

The good news is that this meat is very dense with little fat, prices are somewhat comparable to their mass produced cousins. Anyone who cooks a pound of natural ground meat in a pan will find there is less oil left over. For some, the fresh taste and nutritional value make the small difference in cost very much worth the enjoyment.

Contrary to popular belief, there are some places where grassfed and organic meats are affordable. Neighborhood supermarkets costs are only slightly higher than specialty grocers. Some people prefer outdoor markets because of the quality and the overhead is not that of storefronts. Like most everything else, online bargains are another option.

When it comes to the health aspect, it is like most lean meat but offers many heart healthy properties like Omega 3 and vitamins A and E. It also contains antioxidants, which can play a role in keeping cancer cells at bay. Many doctors recommend a diet that is high in protein in order to maintain a reasonable body weight.

In the case of a person looking to lose a few pounds, it helps to watch the sodium used in seasoning blends. Having meat as an entree can be filling and in some cases, it is preferred over having carbohydrates as the main source of sustenance. Additionally, there are many scientifically tested diet programs that recommend grassfed or organic meats only.

For some, making dietary changes for better health can be tough but oftentimes it is due to overlooking what is really healthy. Eating natural foods is also good for the environment by saving the energy it takes to feed livestock. Meat has its own unique flavor and while it has been imitated, there is nothing like the original.
