Some people considered it as a hobby but for some, it is a combination of art and adventure. It is a way to express their thoughts and a great reason to discover a completely new horizon. One of the most recent discoveries in cooking is the use of an Arizona dry rub. It is most popular on the Southern area of America, but these days chefs all over the world use them.

A dry rub is a mixture of herbs and spices that can be applied to any meat to add flavor. It can be use as a substitute for liquid marinade. Its taste vary based on the ingredients used but all can make any dish more appetizing.

It is one of the newly distributed food mixtures nowadays. Its demand on the market continues to upsurge because of the wonders it does to every cook. If it happens that you cannot find one on your local grocery store, do not worry because you can easily make one. It would not cost you a lot so you only have to get the right ingredients.

Start by preparing an equal amount of salt and sugar. These two are the most fundamental ingredients in making dry rubs. That is because they are the main sources of flavor. Use your favorite salt and sugar but try to vary their proportion depending on the dish you are preparing.

Spicy meals are always an all time favorite for every household so use some pepper. You can never go wrong with extra hotness by using ground pepper. If you like your meal to have that subtle spice, the white pepper can do that.

Transition spices are needed to mix together the contrasting flavors in your mixture. One of the most commonly used transition spice is a chili powder. Chili powders add pungency to any dish. It is best used for dishes made out of beef and pork.

Many dry rubs include paprika and turmeric powders. Both powders will add pungent aroma and bright colors to your dish making it look more appetizing. Less common ingredients like crushed garlic and oil are used to create paste like texture.

Preparing your dry rub is extremely easy. What you need to do is to mix all ingredients together. After rubbing mixture all over your meat, keep it in a refrigerator before cooking it. You can use your mixture anytime you want because they are free from any artificial preservatives. Just remember to use all of them within two to three months to keep it fresh.
