Choosing The Best Wedding Menu For The Seasons

By Linda Ruiz

Your wedding day is the one day it is all about you and the one you love. So making it extra special is a must. The wedding menu should correspond to the theme if you have one of your blessed day or pertain to foods that the two of you love the most. Hiring a caterer as most couple's do will be a great asset as they can help guide you along the way for an exquisite menu everyone will enjoy.

For a beautiful spring-time event you can decorate with the seasons most exquisite flowers and use pastels such as pale pinks, lavender, blues and yellows. Two favorite flowers are daffodils and tulips for this time of the year. The menu should include refreshing food and drinks. The cake should also be in pastel colors and in a flavor like lemon, coconut, or strawberry with light butter-cream whipped frosting and filled with fresh fruit that corresponds to the actual flavor.

Some spring drink ideas people love include mojito's and bloody mary's. For a fall spectacular colors should be kept in the theme of autumn like burnished gold, red, brown, orange hues. The menus should have hearty foods within it, starting with a spinach, and kale salad filled with tomatoes, squash and corn kernels served with a raspberry vinaigrette or an Asian ginger dressing.

You can choose between richer foods for the entree like apple glazed guinea hens, roasted pork or a thick cut of steak. Sides to incorporate are butternut squash, sauteed mushrooms and onions with some type of corn bread. The desserts that work wonderfully this time of year are cheesecakes, apple spiced turnovers or apple caramel turnovers.

You can choose juicy steak filet, chicken roasted, or a nice savory filet of tuna or favorite fish. The sides should include vegetables harvested this time of the year and for desserts like apple pie, pumpkin pie, and a scoop or two of coffee ice cream on top. The cake for the bride and groom can be a luxurious dark chocolate.

If winter is your special season for marriage then the menus needs to be full of soothing warm foods and drinks. Colors are glittering and bright this time of the year. For appetizers you can use ravioli filled with butternut squash, mini shooters of soup or skewers of honey glazed meatballs. The main course can include honey baked ham or a roast beef perfect for the holiday time.

Your winter-time cocktails should have flavors like peppermint, butterscotch, and cranberry made in martini's or champagne mixes. The starter can include some type of hardy, warm soup and the entree a nice filet of steak with a side of wasabi mashed potatoes. Desserts perfect for winter weather you can choose from are rich, chocolate and coffee inspired delicacies.

For the bride and groom cake a nice spiced caramel with a frosting of butter-cream or a dark velvety chocolate orange delight frosted and filled with dark chocolate and decorated with orange flakes and flowers. Just remember that whatever theme or season you choose the menu should be reflected with foods which match them and your wedding will day will be a dream come true.
